She's OUT, but we're kind of at a loss to explain why. Sometimes there's just some indefinable something; the presence of which indicates an IN and the lack of which causes an automatic OUT. The only definable issue is that the neckline is all wrong for her because she's broad-shouldered. Aside from that, we can't quite put our finger on why this isn't working for us.
It's like this: we think her stylist should have taken one look at her in this getup and immediately said "No, that's not it. Let's try something else." It's not an awful dress, but it's just not working on her. Commentariat, tell us why. Or tell us why we're crazy.

Our first impulse on this dress was to give it an automatic OUT for having too many design elements: the Cleopatra collar, the straps, the multiple belts. But looking at it again, we see her stylist made some smart choices. For one, the straps have been hidden under the collar; for another, the gold belt is gone. We think that whole criss-crossing belt/strap thingy was unnecessary. With this dress, the focal point should be solely on the collar and everything else needs to be understated or minimized. Still, it's a bold red carpet choice and we can't fault her for that. Besides, as we said, she or her stylist made some smart choices as to how to wear it. That gets an automatic IN from us.
