We admit it: we don't really get what was going on with Andy this episode. Sure, he's young, but no one else seemed to have the reaction to seeing a family member that he did. It just drained all the ambition out of him. We're not criticizing (no, really!); we just don't get it. Wouldn't seeing your mom, we don't know, buck you up a little?
And why did he need bucking up anyway? Valerie, we could see it, since she's been freaking out for a while. Even Michael C, since he's been dealing with a lot of dislike. But Andy's been getting along with just about everyone; he won a challenge, and he placed in the top a couple of times and he's heading into the finals. What's your problem, girl?
Because this? This is depression in clothing form.
She looks like she's going to a maternity hoedown.
Before we get any bitchier, we should point out that we love that print. REALLY love it. It may be the most sophisticated of the bunch.
How, then, did he wind up designing clothes that were the exact opposite of sophisticated?
These aren't department store clothes, these are Walmart clothes.
And before you get all up in our grill about being snobs, we've got pairs of shorts from Walmart; we've got jeans from Walmart; we've got t-shirts, socks, and other casual wear from Walmart. But you know what we don't have from Walmart?
The kind of clothes that win design competitions. Impressive clothes.
All the flaws seems self-evident to us, but we'll run down a few. That vest is sad and out of proportion to the top.
The shorts don't fit all that well and they're are also disproportionate to the top.
The weird seaming and pleating on the top gave it the oddest shape.
He seems to be coasting his way into the homestretch, even if there have been some bumps along the way. There was no reason for this little mini-fashion-meltdown. We hope he can handle the pressure going forward because he's one of our picks for the finals and we so hate being wrong about that sort of thing.
